Q: How does a chevy corvette coupe compare against a lotus elise?
I’ve read reviews on both cars.
Lotus is lighter has a 145 bhp toyota engine(i maybe wrong)
Chevy corvette coupe is 430 bhp engine(but more heavier).
Their prices are almost similar.
If there is a race between these 2 who will most likely win.
I guess on a straight track Corvette, on a winding track Lotus elise(maybe)

A: i would think the lotus would win on a tight track, but not by a huge margin, the vette would kill it on a faster track.

but on the road, the lotus is small cramped, rides extremly rough, has no cargo space, radio sucks, i doubt it has a/c etc….

while the vette would make a pretty decent everyday car, good radio, comfortable, good a/c, power everything etc….

if you plan on just racing it and driving it now and then on weekends, go for the lotus, if you plan on using it frequently on the road, get the vette.

also, the vette can be upgraded easily, while the lotus cannot generally be modified

I am 16 years old and i am getting a 2005 chevy corvette. Does anyone have any idea what insurance will cost? (please don’t give me any crap answers like “your 16 you shouldn’t have a corvette”)

A: If you’re serious it could very easily be $5000 a year or more.

Q: Will a 572 Chevy big block motor fit in a 1979 L82 Chevy Corvette?
I just got a 1979 L82 chevy corvette frame (everything except the motor and transmission), and was going to restore it. I wanted to go with a big block instead of the standard 350 engine, then I found the 572 engine and became in love with it. I was wondering if it will fit in the corvette and any recommendations for a transmission (manual), and some parts. Thanks!

yes it should fit … they were available with the Big Block motor in that year so it should fit in the motor compartment. The 572 is just a stroked 455 so you would want to get mounts, tranmission and such for a 455. I’m a Ford man so I can’t help you on what type of transmission.

Q: Where can I buy a engine rebuild kit for 1978 Chevy Corvette with a 327?
My father and I are in the process of taking apart and rebuilding my mothers 1978 vette. It has a 327 in it and I am having a hard time finding a rebuild kit for a chevy 327 in that year. Most of the sites I go to show the chevy 327 only in older vehicles, like prior to 1970. Any ideas?

A: Well was the 327 swapped into the car?

The last 327 was made in 1969. Nothing after ‘69 came stock with a 327.

The 78 vette stock had a 350 in it.

The 327 was made from 1962-69.. The 62-67 was small journal engines (2.30″ mains and 2.0″ rod journals)

The 68-69 327 was med. journal (some call it large journal) Had 3.45″ mains and 2.10″ rod journals.

Check your engine suffix code (front, pass side of engine) on machined pad in front of head.

And the casting # on rear drivers side of block on flange where trans bolts too

Get the #’s off those spots and email me and I can tell you what year, and size engine you really have

Q: Does racing make any harm to my Chevy Corvette?
Hi, i have a 1991 Corvette automatic transmission and i use to take it out two times a week. But these last two days i´ve been driving it fast and accelarating hard a couple of times. Yesterday i drove my car a couple of times at 110 mph just briefly, but never touched the rev’s red line. What i want to know is if this makes too much damage and wear on my engine or i shouldn´t worry. By the way i never drive it more than 2 hours and i frequently take it to change oil and for maintenance. Thanks.

A: look man im a proud owner of 2 corvettes a 2000 black coupe auto trans (cuz i live in atlanta and traffic sucks thats why i have a auto trans corvette so dont be hating ) daily car and a 2006 z06 highly mod
the 2000 got a little over 150 000 milles on it and i drive really fast all the tima and i accelerate in almost every light and i never have any problem with it exept for oil change every 5000 milles i have take this car to the track a couple of time i go to miami rerally often on this car i even went to las vegas in this car beside the oil change i only had change the belts once the max speed that i reach on this car was 178 mph a couple of times ,
the z06 i only drive it on the weekends or to go to a party and soemtimes to the tracks and i never had any problem with it neither ( this one only have 12 000 milles)

i can tell u this man the corvette was made to race and in my opinios it is really healty to race this cars

Q: Is soda blasting a good way to strip remove the paint on a 1969 Chevy Corvette?
I have a 1969 chevrolet corvette and we are in the process of restoring it. I have been researching different ways to remove the paint that is currently on the fiber glass body. Is soda blasting a good method? If you have any experience with soda blasting, what are the down sides to it? If it is a good method of paint removal, about how much would it cost to get the body soda blasted (everything except the front clip)?

A: Soda blast is a good way because it will not dig into the fiberglass. The only other way is to sand it all down by hand. Not sure of any down sides, never used it before. It will be harder to find someone that does soda blasting, its still kind new. Most places do sandblasting for around $60 to $90 an hour. So it could be expensive.

Q: Are roads in Ireland, Northern, suitable and wide enough to drive a Chevy corvette on, or are they too narrow?
I have been thinking about doing some traveling to Ireland and want to bring my vehicle along with me, beats paying rental car fees, and was wondering if this would be possible for driving along country roads exploring different parts of Ireland, hopefully areas that have paved roads. My corvette is not equipped to be a 4×4, I do have another corvette that my brother wrecked that could be converted into a 4×4 if necessary. Any in put on this question?

A: You do realise that both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are modern first world countries? Our roads are paved and we have plenty of people around who own 4×4’s.

Q: How do you change the door switches on a 1988 Chevy Corvette?
The courtesy lights are not coming on when I open the doors. I can turn the headlight switch and they will come light up.

I know that the Mustang doesn’t count because that’s the Camaro’s competition also don’t write which company is better in your eyes and just answer the question remember the cars have to still be made to day or at least in the last 5 years!

A: Shelby Mustang GT500. Yes, I know you said Mustang is the Camaro’s competition but the GT500 it’s the closest thing Ford has to the Corvette. The only other car in the Ford line that could compete against the Corvette would be the Ford GT but thats not on the same level as Mustang and Corvette.

Should I buy it, they want $6,000 for it because they have to sell it fast. Will the value increase?

A: Make sure the dash is in working order cause to fix it cost over $3000. Then offer them $5500 it looks perfect. They say no, ask them to “split the difference at $5700.
